Friday while I was at Cane Creek with the kids, we saw, well actually Jackson found, a Killdeer's nest. She put her nest in a very bad spot, right beside a recreational field that's almost always busy. Jackson accidentally threw his ball & hit a log beside her nest- she came roaring out of her nest, feathers up all around & making some awful noises while she charged him- to which Jackson replied, "That is NOT a nice bird, Miss Liz". (He understood once I explained it was a momma looking out for her babies...that were eggs at the time). Mac & I took the dogs to the park tonight to walk & checked in on the birdies. One baby had hatched (looked brand new) & the other was still in the egg. Lucy was ready to have eggs for dinner & Ellie could care less. I managed to sneak some pictures real fast while the mom stood a few feet away watching me very very carefully. Luckily my super zoom lens is amazing & I really didn't have to step too close. Pretty neat.
& of course some doggy pictures :-)
