Kiawah 2019

"Beach Week" as Mason so excitedly named it the entire month before we left, was a huge success... We biked our hearts out, basked in the sun, splashed in the ocean, saw so much amazing wildlife, made friends with an alligator, ate some seriously yummy meals and most importantly enjoyed a week of family time!

Day 1: We started off the week with a perfect visit to Cordova to see Uncle Tom & Aunt Mary! Mason loved riding the tractor, something he has been afraid of in the past while Maddox enjoyed sitting on them and Emerson hid behind a wooden post far away. We ate some delicious BBQ and loved getting to catch up. Once we got to the rental house, we unpacked and slipped right into our bathing suits, broke out the big pool Nana & Papaw brought and jumped right in!

Day 2: Mother's Day! The kids, along with help from Daddy, showered me with cards at breakfast along with a gift card to buy the camera lens I have been swooning over! CANNOT WAIT, Y'ALL. Then we headed out to rent bikes for the week and rode around the island some. Our first stop was the beach of course! Later we biked to one of the overlooks and hopped back into the pool for the afternoon before enjoying a large Mother's Day feast! Thankful to spend mother's day with my mom!

Day 3: We spent the whole morning at the beach, broke out our new kite, made sand castles, played in the water, jumped lots of waves and ate all the snacks. We headed home to clean up, have lunch and take naps. While the little ones napped, some of the group headed to the playground followed by pool time and a big birthday celebration dinner for Nana! We sang, ate yummy food, had delicious cake and ice cream and surprised her with a new beautiful teal Yeti cooler. After dinner we headed out for a sunset bike ride around the Island, the views are amazing!

Day 4: We headed out to Freshfields for lunch and shopping, hopped back in the pool and hung around the house some, and ended the day with a beautiful sunset bike ride around two of the golf courses on the Island, probably my favorite vacation activity.

The island is a photographers dream

Day 5: Day 5 was spent enjoying the beach for most of the day after we watched some of Uncle Bubba's tennis clinic in the morning. Maddox was under the weather part of our trip and this was his worst day, poor baby. So mommy & Maddox enjoyed lots of snuggles at home & naps while the house was quiet. Our sunset bike ride rounded out the day and was maybe the most gorgeous of them all, we rode around a third golf course and saw tons of deer.

Day 6: We started out the day watching Mason's little tennis clinic, Emerson was dying to participate! Afterward we headed back out for another long beach day. After dinner, Nana & Papaw were nice enough to watch the little ones while Mac, Leslie, Dan and myself biked to The Sanctuary to look around and have some drinks. Thanks to Mac's quick thinking we were able to use our phone flashlights in our bike fanny packs as headlights to find our way home on the very very dark nighttime island.

Day 7: We spent the majority of the day at the beach and I would say it was our best beach day! Everyone was in a great mood and well rested! After we got cleaned up we had a little photo session in the back yard before jumping back in the pool!

Day 8: We ate breakfast, enjoyed some last family time and headed home. We loved every second of our beach week and were so thankful for such a fun week with family! Maddox & Daddy sure didn't want to get up to head home.  I think we all felt the same!
